This little snippet has no name yet. I’ve been bouncing an idea around in my head this week and after sketching out some details I decided to write something (un-edited). So here ya go:
The sound of a soft, crackling fire first awoke Alyssa. She slowly opened her eyes and glanced around the room. It was dark, but the sporadic flames allowed her to see. She was crumpled in a near-fetal position in the corner of the room. The floor was tile and the wall behind her was stone, both of which were cold against her naked skin.
A man in a lab-coat lay before her. He showed no signs of life but appears to be reaching towards Alyssa before he had settled in his current position. He was older, She couldn’t be sure but he was at least sixty, with a long beard and glasses. She felt as though she should know him, but her memories were fleeting. She didn’t know where she was or why. [Read More…]

I decided to delete all of the comments on the blog yesterday. A few of them were relevant, but that was a very small percentage compared to the whole. So I nuked them all directly from the file structure (an advantage to using Flatpress). This is all in preparation for a revival in content.
I’ll be disabling comments from here on out but readers are encouraged to comment from social media. (Google+, Facebook, and Twitter. Of which I’ll be linking future posts from).
I’m attempting to locate some of the posts that I had moved over to the failed Cord-cutter site so that I can put them back up over here. Although it looks like I deleted them all. I’m not too happy about that. Some of them actually required some work and had good information.
My last book is up and available on Lulu. It has been for quite some time and I’m currently paused in the center of a free ‘in-between’ book. I paused in order to work on another project that I have high hopes for. It’s not science fiction, but fantasy. It’s also a completely new direction for my writing to take.
That’s it for today (and probably the next week). Stay safe my friends and pray for Spring![Read More…]

I’m happy to say that the first draft of the first New Empire book is complete! Currently it runs at a length of 67,353 words and 17 story chapters. Of course, that’s subject to change during the editing process.
Please excuse the poor quality of the image to the right. It’s saved at a very low setting.
If successful (I haven’t decided on what ’success’ is yet) I have three more slated as a series detailing the Earth/Colonies war in it’s entirety.
I also haven’t decided what I plan to do with this book in terms of publishing. For right now I’m just concentrating on the editing part. I will fine-tune some portions to my liking through the end of this week and then proceed from there.
I do want to thank my cousin for reading the early chapters and giving me support some time ago. It meant a lot to me knowing that someone out there was interested.

I posted earlier (nearly 2 months ago) that Rex’s Den is NOT dead by any means. Most of what I have been doing just hasn’t been related to the site.
In an attempt to complete a remodeling project in the house I have been busy building and cleaning. My latest project was the completion of a fully insulated doghouse for my German Shepard mix. It is quite heavy and has a roof that opens on hinges. The dog isn’t very excited to be sleeping outside but she does appear to like the house (when she bothers to use it). That project led me to cleaning out a shed in the backyard which took a whole day by itself.
I have been writing again as well. I have kept on the New Empire book as promised in the hopes of actually releasing it to the wild someday soon. I will include an excerpt near to where I am: [Read More…]

I just wanted to post up that Rex’s Den is not dead. It’s been quite busy at home and posting has gone by the way-side. Luckily thing’s are beginning to slow down and I’m getting back into private projects. I’ll soon be posting up more.
